Enterprise Holdings, one of FCM’s key strategic partners, has announced an exciting program of expansions to their business. Enterprise not only operates Enterprise Rent-A-Car but additionally, their subsidiaries National Car Rental and Alamo Rent-A-Car, making them the largest car rental group in the world.
The group plans to expand their operations in Texas, opening 12 new locations in the Houston area by 2017 to meet rising consumer demand. These will be in addition to its existing network of 185 locations already managed its Houston subsidiary. The plan aims to improve its already impressive market share at George Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airports, which currently sits at around 40%.
To help staff these new offices Enterprise intends to induct more than 200 college graduates into its Management Training Program this year. This will be in addition to the nearly $200 million contribution of the Enterprise group to Houston’s economy over the past year.
This contribution to local economies isn’t incidental but is part of a concerted strategy that Enterprise believes is responsible for its growth and effectiveness as a brand. “The Enterprise business model was built on access to affordable transportation,” as Enterprise Holdings VP and General Manager Karl Koch observed in a statement, “When other car rental companies focused on the airports, we focused on opening locations in local communities”.
And with a brand as large as Enterprise the benefits to local communities can be considerable. Through its subsidiaries, Enterprise Group operates more than 9,600 fully staffed offices worldwide. During 2016 in Canada alone they purchase $2.2 billion in vehicles, $270 million in supplier purchases, more than $100 million in tax payments, more than $200 million in payroll and $2.4 million in charitable giving.
Enterprise’ Corporate Vice President of Canadian Operations Steven Tudela said in a statement that "As we grow, we hire, spend and give locally. Our goal is to strengthen the fabric of the neighborhoods where our employees live and work. We're a large international company. But we have the mindset and the culture of a neighborhood business”. Perhaps it is this mindset that has led to Enterprise being named the most trusted car rental brand in Canada in the Gustavson Brand Trust Index.
With their huge network of locations around the globe and plans for vigorous expansion we look forward to continuing our partnership with Enterprise, making sure our clients have access to the vehicles they need wherever business may take them.
