Earlier this month British Airways announced a £400 Million investment on Club World, their long haul business cabin. From exclusive check-in areas to better quality food and improved airport lounges the airline are promising some changes as early as June.
Club World passengers traveling through Gatwick’s South Terminal can enjoy a new check-in area as well as improved lounges. With sweeping views of the runway, the spacious Galleries First and Club Lounges, feature a bar, complimentary Wi-Fi, showers, washrooms and a kids’ zone. Stylish feature walls separate the area into dedicated spaces to work, relax or dine. “Customers are really loving everything we have to offer here; they love the views of the runway, they love all the new catering that we’re putting on board; the different spaces they’ve got to rest and relax. So overall, feedback’s been fantastic”- Hamish McVey, Manager, Brand and Customer Experience.
Meanwhile at London Heathrow’s Terminal 5, British Airways have introduced, ‘The First Wing’. Exclusive to Heathrow T5, The First Wing has just opened offering a dedicated premium space with an enhanced, private check-in area, two exclusive security lanes and a direct walkway to the lounges. Troy Warfield, Director of Brand and Customer Experience stated that The First Wing ‘will enable First customers, Executive Gold Club card holders, as well as oneworld Emerald members to be able to have a dedicated and exclusive check-in experience at Terminal 5, Heathrow.’
Over here in the US there are plans over the next two years for similar transformations at New York JFK Terminal 7. British Airways states that an entirely new experience awaits customers from the moment they check in, go through security, relax in the lounges and when boarding.
Improvements are not limited to the ground as a new restaurant-style dining service on board will start in September, featuring beautiful new table settings and display trolleys for customers to select freshly prepared dishes.
Additionally, from July British Airways Club World travelers can enjoy a more comfortable sleep in the sky and relax on a fully flat bed with new linen, a bigger pillow, soft mattress topper and plump duvet. All these changes will be introduced on flights between London and New York (JFK) before they're rolled out to the rest of British Airways’ long haul network during 2018.
